Keep the treat under their belly so that they stay in that position, and after a couple of seconds say, “Take a bow”.
Do not give them the treat too fast. Have them hold the position for up to ten seconds. But also make sure that they are constantly aware of the treat. Once you are satisfied with their performance, give them the treat.
As with just about anything regarding dog training, this trick, too, will take time and effort. Do not expect too much from your dog, just be patient with him. If you take this too seriously, you will end up frustrated, which is not the point.
And be mindful that your dog will do much better, if you have several short practice sessions rather than one long one. It will also be more fun for both of you that way.
