You just brought a new puppy into your home, and you love to spend every single second with your new family member. After all, puppies are cute, sweet, and innocent. Life doesn’t get much better than bringing home an adorable pup.
But it is also a big responsibility, and you will need to make a lot of decisions: How do you want to go about the training of your puppy, what should he eat, and where should he sleep.
Some people love having their dog on their bed, while others feel that dogs do not belong there, and they simply don’t want it.
It is ultimately a personal decision whether or not you want your dog to sleep in your bed. If you do invite your new puppy into your bed, you need to prepare yourself for a lifetime of a possible bed hog.
Your seemingly little dog can curl up into the tiniest ball when he sleeps. It feels so good when you first get into bed to have your adorable little puppy curl up with you.
However, by the middle of the night, the tiny little puppy has managed to stretch himself out diagonally across your bed, and you find yourself curled up in a tiny corner on the foot of the bed.
You find this hard to believe? Well, trust me, I know. While this might be a somewhat extreme case, don’t be surprised when it happens to you. It is natural for dogs to stretch out as they relax, so don’t say I didn’t tell you.
Of course, the more they stretch out, the more space they will take up. And unless you want the puppy stretched out all over you, you will have to retreat to what little is left of the bed. So only invite him in, if you are alright with that.
Also consider how sound a sleeper you are. If you are a light sleeper, having your puppy sleep next to you and stretch out during the night might not be the best plan.
