So you might want to consider taking a pet first aid course offered by organizations like the Red Cross. These courses are relatively short, one or two days at the most, and do not cost a fortune.
Often times, the course comes with a pet first aid book. If this is the case with your course, make sure to add the book to one of your aid kits. If you do not receive one from your instructor, ask him to please recommend a book, so that you can buy it yourself.
And, finally, do not forget the third step: Taking a cell phone with you wherever you go. Being able to call 911, or your vet, can be a great help, when your dog gets in an accident. To make your life as carefree as possible, make sure to have your vets number programmed into the phone.
